About the Men's Club
The Colony Men's Golf Club, open to any male resident
of The Colony, is a non-profit golf and social club with many social
activities for both regular and social members. Regular Wednesday events are
conducted by the Men's Club on its home course, the California Oaks Golf
Course. A variety of formats are employed. The tournaments commence with;
shotgun; starts each Wednesday morning, with the exception of the Club
Championship and President's Cup. Members can enter tournaments by signing
up as early as a week in advance in the Pro Shop or by emailing or phoning
the Tournament Director no later than 4 pm Monday the week of the
tournament. Using current SCGA handicaps, players are usually divided as
evenly as possible by computer into two flights (A; B) while scramble teams
are composed of A, B, C and D players.
Prize money won in weekly competition, including closest-to-the-pin
awards on selected par-3 holes, is paid to winners on a weekly basis by the
Tournament Director. The all-volunteer Men's Club Board of Directors,
elected annually by the membership, usually meets on the second Wednesday of
each month. The meeting, held in the HOA club - house, is also attended by
appointed Committee Members. Board meetings are open to any Club member.
Luncheons are usually held on the third Wednesday of each month
following golf. Two of the luncheons are General Membership luncheon
meetings, one in March and the other in October.
Special events, many of which include social activities, highlight
the Club's schedule. Each year the Club conducts two Pancake Breakfasts that
help fund charitable contributions, including scholarship donations to the
golf programs at Murrieta Valley, Vista Murrieta and Murrieta Mesa High
Schools. The Men's Club's GHIN/SCGA number is 73-0442.
